Understanding On-Page SEO and Off-Page SEO

Table of Content

Understanding On-Page SEO and Off-Page SEO - Okay, on this occasion I want to try to discuss something that has actually been discussed very often, namely the Definition of SEO On Page and SEO Off Page. Maybe many of you have often heard about these two things, or have even started working on both. But here I will try to peel it again.

    SEO On Page

On Page SEO, as the name implies "On Page", means that we perform SEO optimization from within our web pages. What can we optimize in our web pages? Here are some points that we can optimize in our web pages / blogs:

    1. Title Tag

This title tag is an optimization carried out on a collection of title tag codes that exist on our blog/web pages. Usually this optimization uses some code header tags <h1>, <h2>, <h3>, <h4>, <h5>, and <h6>.

Each of the above header tags has its own priority in the eyes of search engine crawlers, with the estimated priority given by the crawler is as follows:

    <h1> : 50%
    <h2> : 40%
    <h3> : 20%
    <h4> : 10% Opsional
    <h5> : 10% Opsional
    <h6> : 5% Opsional

What I mean by optional above is used or not, the code header will not have much effect on crawlers. But if there are no H1 and H2 header tags on your blog page, then it can affect the crawl results of the Search Engine web crawler.

And according to several sources that I read, the placement of keywords in the title must also be considered. Usually, keywords are always placed at the beginning of the title tag, I don't know what the impact is, I just wanted to try to apply it so I still "No Comment" for this one tip.

    2. Meta Tag

Meta tags are another factor that includes On Page SEO. You can optimize the use of various meta tags for maximum results. However, there are some meta tags that you shouldn't miss, namely:

    Meta Description
    Meta Keyword
    Meta Author

Because a lot of speculation says that the three meta tags can affect the SERP of your blog. The most obvious thing is how the meta description is able to be indexed and become a snippet of the articles on our blog.

While the use of meta keywords can be combined with the technique of placing keywords in your blog articles. Suppose you target the keyword "Cook Vegetables" in your article, then you write "Cook Vegetables" in the meta keywords, then the Search Engine web crawler will focus on finding the keywords you marked through these meta keywords. But you need to know, there are limitations in placing keywords in an article. Some experts argue that inserting too many targeted keywords in an article actually has a bad impact because web crawlers will consider it as spamming activity.

Some say that a good quantity to insert targeted keywords is in the range of 1%-10%. Suppose you write an article with 1000 words and the keyword you are targeting is "Cooking Vegetables", then the keyword "Cooking Vegetables" would be nice if there were only 5-50 in the article. Or to make it easier you can use Free Keyword Density Analyzer to simplify calculations for your keyword placement.

    3. Responsibilities of Blog Templates

This one is an optional point, because content is the king for a blog. Regardless of whether your blog is responsive or not to other devices, it's not a big problem. However, it is very unfortunate if your blog template is not responsive. That's because nowadays, people are more likely to use the gadgets they have (mobile phones, tablets, etc.) rather than having to use a laptop or desktop to just look for information. In other words, if your blog template is not responsive, then you could say you have lost most of the traffic prospects that should have come to your blog through devices other than desktops. For more details, you can read Responsive Blogs Can Add SEO Value to a Blog.

    4. Blog Speed

This is another factor that you can classify in On Page SEO. And this point in my opinion is the second most important point after content. Because according to personal experience, when I visit a blog/website that is considered "slow" or "heavy", then I choose to close the tab or click the Back button and choose another blog that is lighter.

So, in other words, you can say that the speed of your blog greatly affects the credibility of your blog. To find out how fast your blog is, you can use tools Speed Analyzer GTMetrix or use Pagespeed Insights provided by Google. As for the tutorial on how to use it, maybe I will discuss it another time.

    5. Content

This is the most important factor in SEO On Page optimization, namely content. As I said before that content is king, so from this point your blog is really judged by your blog visitors, whether your blog is helpful, useful and worth visiting again or not. Most bloggers do not think about the principles of thinking of "Internet Surfers" and arbitrarily copy-paste articles that they find interesting. When in reality, the "Internet Surfers" will also be bored and feel useless visiting blogs whose contents are the same. Therefore, our uniqueness and creativity in knitting words and processing information so as to make readers continue to be interested in reading the articles on our blog is highly tested.

Well, one way to optimize your content is to be different. Even though what you discussed is the same as the articles that have been written before, that doesn't mean that you shouldn't discuss the topic, right? However, if your writing is the same as other articles, maybe people will think why visit your blog? After all, other blogs also have such information!

Those are some things that are included in On Page SEO that you can optimize to improve the SEO value of your blog.

    SEO Off Page

Off Page SEO is the opposite of On Page SEO, namely optimization of our blog / web externally (from outside). Some of the factors that you can do to perform Off Page SEO optimization are:

    1. Build Inbound Links

Inbound links are links that are placed on a blog / web that are directed to your blog. Maybe you know him more often as "Backlink". Looking for backlinks is one way of Off Page SEO optimization. For those of you who want to learn about what a backlink is, you can read it at Know About Quality Backlinks. As for how to find good inbound links, maybe I'll explain another time.

    2. Promotion on Social Media

Have you ever seen some posts whose contents were promoted on social media? Well, that is one example of applying the concept of Off Page SEO. Big social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and others are often the place to chase traffic. And you can do that too. In fact, if you want to build a big blog, you need socialization, and promotion on social media may be one step to socialize your blog in the ears of internet users.

    3. Blogwalking

This method is also one of the steps you can take to optimize the SEO Off Page of your blog. By walking to other people's blogs, leaving a trail in the form of comments in the hope that the blog owner is willing to revisit your blog. Actually, this method is very common and without a lengthy explanation even if you already understand the meaning, so I think it's just a matter of practicing it.

    4. Offline Promotion

If this method is fairly rare. Here you can promote your blog to the public without using the internet. Some bloggers who use this method do it by making some accessories (hats, necklaces, bracelets, bags, etc.) or even clothes and then attaching their blog logo. This method is rarely done by bloggers who are just starting out for a simple reason, this method is not free or requires a fee. So few bloggers are interested. But this method is quite effective in attracting visitors, especially if you have a unique logo. So, why not?
